How “A Course In Miracles” Taught Me Unconditional Love
When I was first introduced to A Course in Miracles (ACIM), I was still deeply entrenched in my “religious” mindset. Anything that wasn’t explicitly “the word of God” felt like a threat, so I dismissed it without ever reading too much of it. I went in looking for reasons to judge it—to label it blasphemous and confirm my preconceived fears. The truth? I wasn’t ready. My heart and mind were closed. It took years before I could come back to it with curiosity instead of resistance.
Both A Course in Miracles and the Bible have profoundly shaped my spiritual journey.
The Bible was instrumental in my initial spiritual awakening and played a vital role in my miraculous healing from PTSD caused by childhood trauma. It set me on a path of following the way, truth, and life of Jesus as the Christ. Through scripture and other faith-based books, I began to understand God’s love, the power of forgiveness, and the fruits of the Spirit. But over time, I also became entangled in religion—the kind that breeds judgment, not love. I became hard on myself and others, lost in guilt, shame, and condemnation disguised as “salvation” within the pews of Christian churches.
Coming out later in life as a lesbian only made things more complicated. The internal battle between faith and identity was agonizing. But through deep introspection, study, and prayer, I found peace. I reconciled my faith with who I am, finally embracing my truth as a beloved Child of God—without condition, without exception.
Returning to A Course in Miracles
By the time I revisited A Course in Miracles, I was spiritually hungry. Religion and the Bible alone were no longer enough—I craved a deeper, more personal connection with God. This time, I approached it with an open heart and mind.
The core teaching of ACIM is simple yet profound: God is Love. Only Love is real. Everything else is fear—and fear is not real.
Love and fear cannot coexist. In every moment, we’re choosing to live from one or the other. Miracles, as ACIM defines them, are expressions of pure Love. The Course also reminds us that we are not our bodies; we are eternal, guiltless, sinless Spiritual beings—Children of God—having a human experience. If that sounds like a lot to unpack, trust me, it is!
At first, ACIM challenged everything I thought I knew. My old beliefs clung to me like armor I didn’t realize I no longer needed. But slowly, the Holy Spirit worked within me. I started unlearning the lies I had believed about myself, about God, and about others.
I learned to manage my thoughts and emotions instead of letting them control me. I stopped suppressing uncomfortable feelings and instead used them as guides back to peace, joy, and Love, often using forgiveness as my portal back. I became more aware of the negative cycles I had been unconsciously repeating—patterns rooted in fear—and with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, I began to heal my deepest wounds. Over time, this process became second nature.
Now, I trust myself. I love myself. I finally know who and what I am—and always have been.
I understand now what Paul meant when he wrote that nothing can separate us from the Love of God—because we are the Love of God. And when you embrace this truth, you begin to see everything and everyone as they truly are and have always been: Love.
How ACIM and the Bible Work Together
It’s now clear to me how the Bible, the life of Jesus, and His resurrection beautifully align with the teachings in ACIM. The Course has helped me understand scripture on a deeper level—free from fear-based interpretations that attempt to manipulate and control. I see the Bible through a lens of Love, not judgment. Together, they can enlighten, enable, and equip anyone to live life to the fullest.
Sharing ACIM With Others
I’ve been studying A Course in Miracles for several years now, and in October 2023, I started facilitating a small women’s study group every Sunday. I wanted to share this transformative journey, hoping it would impact others the way it has me. And it has.
One of the women in our group shared this:
“Under the guidance of Tilde, A Course in Miracles has been a profound catalyst in reshaping my mindset and transforming my life. Along with Tilde, this extraordinary book has guided me on a transformative journey of self-discovery, inner healing, and spiritual growth. Through its teachings, I have experienced profound shifts in perception, gained a deeper understanding of Love and forgiveness, and found inner peace and purpose.” — SA
While A Course in Miracles speaks about God, the Holy Spirit, and Christ, this is not a religious study group. This small group of women are from various faiths and religious backgrounds ACIM is about self-mastery—learning how to live as a Spiritual being having a human experience and fully enjoying it. It’s about shifting from fear to Love, breaking free from limiting beliefs, and embracing peace, joy, and authenticity in everyday life.
Because this study has had such a powerful impact, I’ve been considering launching a co-ed group for anyone 20 and older. But before I do, I want to gauge interest.
So, if this sounds like something you’d love to be part of, send me an email addressed to Hello@IamTilde.com with “ACIM” in the subject line, and I’ll reach out to you directly with more details!
Let’s explore Love, healing, and miracles together. 💙
